การใช้ Articles (a, an, the) (อันนี้ชื่อหัวข้อ)

Articles แบ่งออกได้เป็น  2 ชนิด คือ

          1. Indefinite Article ได้แก่ a, an (ใช้กับคำนามนับได้ที่ไม่เจาะจง)

          2. Definite Article ได้แก่ the (ใช้กับคำนามนับได้ที่เจาะจง)

1. Indefinite Article ได้แก่  a, an

หลักการใช้ a, an

                  1. ใช้ an นำหน้าคำที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยสระ a, e, i, o, u หรือออกเสียงสระไม่ว่าจะเขียนขึ้นต้นด้วยพยัญชนะก็ตาม เช่น

                              an elephant, an hour, an umbrella, an apple

                  2. ใช้ a, an นำหน้าคำนามเอกพจน์ที่นับได้เสมอที่มีความหมายเป็น"หนึ่ง" เช่น

                              She has a dog.

                              Give me an apple.

                  3. ใช้ a, an นำหน้าคำที่บอกอาชีพ เช่น

                              Junior's father is a doctor.

                              I want to be a teacher.

                  4. ใช้ a, an นำหน้านามเอกพจน์ที่แปลเป็นต่อ... (หน่วย) เช่น

                             Oranges cost 50 baht a kilogram.

                5. ใช้ a กับการเจ็บไข้ได้ป่วย เช่น

                              a stomachache, a headache, a fever       

                              I ate Somtam at lunch and now I have a stomachache.

                 

                  6. ใช้ a,an ในประโยคอุทานตามหลัง what เช่น

                              What a nice dress!

                              What an old man!

                   ***เราจะไม่ใช้ a,an กับสิ่งต่อไปนี้ ***

                   1. ไม่ใช่กับคำนามที่นับไมได้ ( Uncountable nouns)

                   2. ไม่ใช้นำหน้าชื่อวิชา ชื่อกีฬา ชื่อประเทศ ชื่อเมือง ชื่อมหาวิทยาลัย

                   3. ไม่ใช้หน้าคำที่เป็นมื้ออาหาร breakfast, lunch, dinner

 หลักการใช้ the

                        1. ใช้กับคำนามนับได้เอกพจน์และพหูพจน์ที่เป็นการชี้เฉพาะเจาะจงลงไปว่าคนไหน อันไหน สิ่งไหน

                        2. ใช้ the นำหน้าคำนามที่มีสิ่งเดียว เช่น

                             the sun, the moon, the sky

                   3. ใช้ the นำหน้าชื่อครอบครัว เช่น

                             The Browns, The Lees

                   4. ตามปกติเราใช้ the นำหน้าชื่อหนังสือพิมพ์ เช่น

                            The Nation, The Times, The Sun

                   5. ใช้ the กับชื่อสถานที่

                              ทะเล                    the Pacific

                              เทือกเขา                        the Himalayas

                              แม่น้ำ                   the Mississippi

                              ทะเลทราย                     the Sahara

                              โรงแรม                 the Plaza

                              โรงหนังโรงละคร              the Playhouse

                              พิพิธภัณฑ์                      the National Museum

                              ชื่อประเทศที่มีคำว่า   Republic, Kingdom, State

                   6. ใช้ the เมื่อเราพูดโดยทั่วไปในเรื่องเครื่องดนตรี เช่น

                              the piano

                              I play the guitar.

                         7. ใช้ the ก่อนคำว่า same เช่น

                              Your shirt is the same color as mine.

                   8. ใช้ the + คำคุณศัพท์เมื่อกล่าวถึงกลุ่มบุคคลเป็นพิเศษ เช่น

                             the rich, the sick, the poor

                   9. ใช้ the กับคำนามที่เราได้กล่าวมาแล้วทั้งผู้พูดและผู้ฟังรู้ว่ากำลังพูดถึงสิ่งใด

           

                      ***เราจะไม่ใช้ the กับสิ่งต่อไปนี้ ***

                        1.ไม่ใช้ the นำหน้านาม+จำนวน เช่น

                              room 255

                    2.ไม่ใช้ the เมื่อเราพูดถึงสิ่งของหรือบุคคลโดยทั่วไป เช่น

                              I'm afraid of spiders.
